About Encompass Fitness
Hey Mama
When you join my women’s fitness bootcamp, you may be surprised that the words you’ll hear most often are ‘pull back’.
So many fitness programmes try to sell us mums a quick fix. Everywhere you look, mothers are told to ‘lose kilos fast’, ‘get fit for summer’, or get ‘your body back after baby’.
Hold up - your body didn’t go anywhere.
Your body has just been a bit busy performing everyday miracles like growing, birthing, rocking or feeding a baby. Like running after toddlers, tweens or teens. Like running a household (and maybe a career) on too little sleep and too much coffee.
Mama, It’s time to look forward, not back.
It’s time to embrace the body you have now – a body that has shown it is capable of incredible things – and engage in movement that nourishes, rather than punishes.
I’m Kelly Hebbink
I’m a certified personal trainer and a women’s health and performance coach. Like you, I’m a busy mum and I love having fun with my kids and getting active outdoors. But it wasn’t always this way.
Before having kids I worked in an office job and spent long days at my desk, getting by on coffee and sweet treats. No surprise I ended up depressed and borderline obese.
My love affair with fitness began the day my youngest child started school. I kissed him goodbye and drove straight to the gym to start a 12-week challenge. I had no idea that I was about to embark on a journey that would change my life.
In fitness, I found strength that I never knew I had. I not only lost weight, but I met some incredible trainers and I felt lighter and happier in my own skin. I set a random goal of being able to follow my kids across the monkey bars and within a few months I had smashed it.
I realised that ‘healthy’ doesn’t have a standard look or a size – it’s a way of life. I became determined to share the joy, strength and confidence I had found in fitness with other mums.
Once I qualified as a personal trainer, I realised there were significant gaps in my knowledge of women’s wellbeing, so I undertook further study in safe return to exercise, pelvic floor and continence, and women’s health and performance. I discovered that the standard advice to ‘return to exercise six weeks after birth’ can put your long term wellbeing at risk. I learned that the post-partum period lasts forever, sneezes don’t have to be scary and activating your pelvic floor is essential before every workout.
Now I work with women of all stages from new mums, to stay-at-home mums, working mums, and retired mums through my Encompass Fitness Bootcamps and one on one personal training. I am passionate about helping women like you move your body safely, so you can feel good, have tons of energy, keep up with your kids and enjoy this precious life to the max.
